Alyssa Matoushek uses her specialized Girl Scout training to enhance the camping experience of kids with disabilities.
Each Wednesday, Mehlville Patch will be highlighting a young person in the community who is making a positive difference in the lives of others. These kids are doing outstanding academic work, winning an award or exhibiting exemplary qualities. Know a great kid? Nominate them by e-mailing sarah.flagg@patch.com. Name: Alyssa Matoushek Age: 13 School: Margaret Buerkle Middle School Accomplishment: Matoushek, a member of Troop 1357, took extensive training programs and is now a day camp counselor for campers with disabilities with the Girl Scout Council of Eastern Missouri. Key to Awesomeness: Trained in disability awareness, etiquette, adaptability and inclusion, Matoushek put her knowledge to good use by volunteering to be a day camp …
