A Lemay man faces an abuse charge after St. Louis County Police said he repeatedly punched his 10-year-old son in the chest. Darnell L. Washington, 32, of the 3600 block of Hoffmeister in the Lemay area, was charged Jan. 29 with child abuse, a class C felony. St. Louis County Police said Washington “inflicted cruel and inhuman punishment by punching (the 10-year-old boy) repeatedly in the chest” on Oct. 28, 2011. Washington was being held in St. Louis County jail Tuesday. Bail was set at $50,000, cash only. He is to have no contact with the victim. The list currently includes suspects wanted for statutory sodomy, unlawful uses of weapons, burglary, attempted child enticement, robbery, child kidnapping, stealing, forgery, assault of law officers, statutory rape and domestic assault. Among current suspects is Deshawn Brown, whose photo accompanies this article. His last known address was in Florissant, and he is wanted for child abuse. He is 32 years old.
