Five Places to Cut Your Own Christmas Tree in St. Louis

A number of area tree farms offer a classic tree-cutting holiday experience in December 2012.

What to Do with Your Christmas Tree

Wondering what to do with your tree now that Christmas is over? The St. Louis County Department of Health has some ideas about reusing and recycling.

Christmas trees are objects of beauty and cheer—that is until after Christmas when they can become a chore for families wondering what to do with them.  The St. Louis County Department of Health has a few environmentally friendly ideas for what to do with your tree. If you live on or near a few acres of open land, use your live tree to create a wildlife habitat. Place the tree in a field as cover for small animals or submerge the tree in a pond or lake for a fish habitat. Do not dump the tree in a ravine or along an eroding bank. Christmas Tree Shopping Grows in Mehlville

Tree shoppers are choosing their trees early to stretch their enjoyment.

The holiday season is fast approaching. Instead of traveling to a distant farm or the city, check out these neighborhood Christmas tree locations.  If you prefer buying from a charity, Peace Lutheran Church has a large lot with a full selection of sizes and varieties of trees such as Scotch Pine, Balsam, Fraser and White Pine. Meander through the traditional display until finding the perfect tree. The church's Men's Club volunteers will assist with purchases and are more than willing to balance a tree in both hands for comparison purposes. The service does not end after you pay for the tree.
