Construction on the new courts at Bernard Middle School was completed earlier this year.
The Mehlville School District held a special celebration Wednesday for the dedication of eight newly-constructed tennis courts at Bernard Middle School. The district's Board of Education approved the project in late 2011. The Mehlville School District earned more than $60,000 in grant money toward construction, which was completed earlier this year. The project cost the district approximately $434,000. Check out the attached video for a message from Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost, or view photos of the dedication ceremony on the Mehlville School District Facebook page. Roof staging began this week.
Are you still keeping an eye on construction progress of Mehlville High School's new auditorium? The cinder block 'footprint' of the building is now done, which allowed for roof work to begin this week, according to an update provided at the April 25 Board of Education meeting. Roof staging started Monday. "We've been challenged, of course, with the weather... that's all taken into consideration. All in all, the project is going really smooth," director of facilities Steve Habeck said. In a few weeks, electricians, plumbers and carpenters will be at work inside the structure, he said. The board approved construction on the 20,300 square foot auditorium last fall to support a variety of academic, musical, theatrical and civic events. The …

Wacky weather (including this week's spring snowstorm) has prevented construction on the new auditorium to go at full steam, but the project is still on schedule.
The recent snowy weather--including Sunday's storm--has yet to derail the completion schedule for Mehlville High School's new auditorium. The project has experienced some setbacks due to weather, according to an update provided at the March 14 Board of Education meeting, though workers have been at the site some weekends to make up for lost time. The project is expected to be completed this fall. Walls are expected to be up within the next month, followed by roof framing. “If you’ve paid up close attention the past few days, it’s really exciting,” Superintendent Eric Knost said at the meeting. The Mehlville School District recently shared a web cam link that allows you to see what's going on 24/7. The board approved construction on the 20…

The recent snow hasn't hampered progress.
Despite the snowy weather we've been having, construction on the new Mehlville High School auditorium continues to be on target. During Thursday's Board of Education meeting Superintendent Eric Knost said the district also continues to be "ahead of the game as far as the financial pieces." In January the board agreed to use part of the contingency fund to add a covered walkway and gypsum board on the walls of the auditorium. Knost said Thursday they could soon talk about the remaining alternates, or features that were not included in the original plan. That could include safety features that weren't previously considered. "Post-Sandy Hook we just think differently... this is a chance to be proactive," he said. Read more about the …
