The few but fervent voters in this week's South County Food Fight have deemed Donut Stop in Lemay the best place for doughnuts in South County. Thus endeth the final Food Fight of 2011. We'll come back strong after we get past New Year's Week with another Food Fight topic for Patch readers to battle about. But until then, you decided that Donut Stop, with 44.2 percent of the vote, topped the other three nominees: Donut House in Affton (which got 5.8 percent); McArthur's Bakery in Mehlville (38.5 percent); and Olde Towne Donuts in Fenton (11.5 percent). We asked for your nominations for best doughnut places in South County and got a few nominations. Even though you're busy prepping for Christmas, take time to vote for your favorite in the poll.
Holy pastries, South County! If we go by the comments in which you nominated your favorite doughnut shops in South County and Arnold, we might assume it's a runaway decision. But there were some dark-horse candidates for favorite doughnut shop (and yes, we prefer the spelling "doughnut" over "donut"). We also found some nominees posted on Facebook.
