The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri say Thin Mints are more popular than Oreos in America's cookie jar.
The fulfillment of America's annual craving for Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies is about to be filled. Thin Mints lead the way in cookie sales for Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. The familiar mint patties even outsell Oreos, according to the scouts. Girl Scouts says five of the top 10 cookies sold in the United States are Girl Scout Cookies. In addition to Thin Mints the top sellers also include Caramel deLites (also known as Samoas), Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwiches and Shortbreads (also known as Trefoils). Scouts from Bierbaum Elementary and Mehlville High School are just two of the local troops bringing neighbors their annual stock of cookies. The Scouts from Brownie Troop 223 at Bierbaum Elementary plan on using their …

Allstar Weekend will not be playing in a major Girl Scout event in St. Louis next weekend following the discovery of a video that organizers say is not consistent with their values. Allstar Weekend, who has gained popularity for appearances on the Disney Channel, was scheduled as the main act for the BIG Day FamFest, a large festival on Sept. 22 organized by Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri in downtown St. Louis. The video features what appears to be teen girls and boys drinking alcohol, smoking from a bong, stripping, throwing a chair in a swimming pool and throwing a bag of trash at a moving car. Lyrics to the tune …

Cori Davis spent three Saturdays organizing volunteers at Jefferson Barracks Park.
Cori Davis could have done her Girl Scout Gold Award project anywhere, but she said she wanted to improve an area close to home. The Gold Award is the highest achievement possible in the Girl Scouts. It requires girls to create and implement a plan to improve the community. Davis, who graduated from Mehlville High School in June, called different parks and found out Jefferson Barracks Park needed a lot of love at its Lewis and Clark interpretive panel. She organized volunteers from Girl Scout Troop 2970 and the Friends of Jefferson Barracks, spending three Saturdays working in the park. The team removed evasive honeysuckle and spread mulch in the area. “The area was very weedy, so we went in and took it all out and also the railings in …
