The Holiday Inn on South Lindbergh has been knocking down walls and installing new floors and furniture. They're inviting the public to come see the results.
The Holiday Inn at 6921 South Lindbergh Blvd will hold an open house to celebrate the completion of a total remodel of the lobby. The new open floor plan is called the "Hub at Holiday Inn" and provides guests with a place to mingle, access office equipment or just play a game of Wii Bowling. The remodel includes a new bridal salon big enough for a wedding party of ten or twelve ladies. The salon is avaialbe all day to brides who host their special day at the Holiday Inn and includes a lounge, giant makeup counter and private bath large enough for the bride in full regalia. A new board room has been included in the remodel for corporate guests. The grand opening will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m on Jan. 31. The hotel will display its ballroom …

The South County Chamber of Commerce recognized several local businesses at their awards banquet Wednesday.
Pamela Frederich said she hasn’t worked in years. “My father told me, ‘If you find a job you love, you’ll never work again.’” The Oakville High School nurse doesn’t call her job work, even though she attends to almost 2,000 students and started a diabetes support group at the school. The South County Chamber of Commerce honored Frederich at their annual awards banquet Wednesday night at Royale Orleans. The Oscar-themed night handed awards to the community’s most influential and philanthropic businesses of 2011. Jerry Reinhold of Reinhold Electric won the Business Person of the Year for his kind attitude and Golden Rule business approach. Relying on many of the same themes he used when he declared his candidacy for the U.S. Senate last month in Creve Coeur, U.S. Rep. Todd Akin (R-Wildwood) spoke Thursday at an event sponsored by Citizens Alliance for Missouri Patriots in South St. Louis County. Akin and former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman are the two declared GOP candidates for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Claire McCaskill. Akin made no reference to the controversy which has simmered around him since his recent remarks in a radio interview.
