New Popeye’s, Burger King Possible on Butler Hill at I-55

Developers hope to turn an 11-acre lot at the highway and Butler Hill Road into two fast food restaurants, two sit-down restaurants and a car repair shop.

MidAmerica Hotels Corporation, which owns the 10.95-acre tract on the south side of Butler Hill Road, presented its plan to the St. Louis County Planning Commission Monday night as part of a re-zoning request. I-55 Car Crash Leaves Woman Seriously Injured

The car traveled across all lanes of northbound Interstate 55 at Meramec Bottom Road Monday morning.

A car crash early Monday morning left one woman seriously injured and slowed traffic on Interstate 55 at approximately 9 a.m. A 33-year-old woman driving a 2009 Dodge Caliber was traveling north on I-55 and swerved into another lane to avoid hitting a stopped car. The vehicle slid across all lanes of the highway and struck the concrete median wall just south of Meramec Bottom Road, according to information provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Paramedics from the Mehlville Fire Protection District transported the woman—from Pevely, MO—to St. Anthony’s Medical Center. No other injuries were reported.

MoDOT Begins Construction on I-55 Bridges This Week

Oakville travelers heading south may need to make room for extra travel time.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin work on the Interstate 55 bridges over the BNSF Railroad starting the week of July 11. This project consists of construction of new northbound and southbound bridges on I-55 between Herculaneum and Festus. There will be one lane closed on I-55 in each direction on July 13 and 14 during non-peak travel times from 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., each night. Crews will perform this work during evening/night hours. Two lanes on the interstate will remain open during peak travel times (daytime hours). This project is expected to be completed by late 2012.
