Common Medical Tests Cost More in St. Charles County Than St. Louis, Data Shows

The cost of colonoscopies, MRIs, CT scans and mammograms can shift a lot from county to county. St. Louis County also beats the state average on these tests.

It costs $430 less to get a colonoscopy in St. Louis County than in St. Charles County, and $660 less than the Missouri average. That's according to data from New Choice Health, a private company that encourages people to become smarter healthcare consumers. In fact, a look at four routine medical procedures—colonoscopy, CT scan, mammogram and an MRI—shows all are cheaper in St. Louis County than neighboring St. Charles or the state average. St. Anthony's Receives $25,000 Breast Cancer Foundation Grant

Funds will be used to provide free screening mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women.

St. Anthony’s Medical Center received a $25,000 grant from the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF) to provide free screening mammograms for area uninsured and underinsured women, according to a news release from the medical center. NBCF is a non-profit, charitable foundation that has funded mammography and early detection programs since 1991.  “We are thrilled with the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s generosity in providing us with this grant,” St. Anthony’s Breast Center manager Judi Elston said in the release. “There is a tremendous need in the community for this service and this grant will allow St. Anthony’s to continue to provide screening mammograms to women who could not otherwise avail themselves of the potentially …
