The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis area work zones for February 28 - March 6.
The Missouri Department of Transportation warns that crews may be out treating roadways and plowing in the coming week. Drivers give the trucks plenty of room to work. Commuters should also be aware of changing roadway conditions, especially in the mornings. They should slow down, and be prepared for possible ice, especially on ramps and bridges. As the weather clears, maintenance workers will be completing needed roadway maintenance, such as pavement repairs and crack sealing. Please watch for slow moving or stopped vehicles with flashing lights in traffic lanes. As weather permits, inspection crews will close one lane in each direction on the Poplar Street Bridge. Weekdays, crews will close the lane between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. On Saturday…

One St. Louis County Police Department officer helped push 16 cars off the road that were stuck in traffic.
As a winter storm tore through the St. Louis area on Thursday, authorities reported numerous traffic problems in the Mehlville-Oakville area. They were "all over the place," said Officer Jared Ruhlend of the St. Louis County Police Department South County Precinct. "Not a whole lot of accidents - only drivers who were traffic hazards since they were stuck in traffic and just spinning their wheels," Ruhlend said. Fortunately, as of 5 p.m. on Thursday, there were no reports of accidents involving injuries. Motorists navigated the roads safely enough to avoid accidents, but some skidded to a halt. "When you stop on a hill, unfortunately, you get stuck," Ruhlend said. One officer even helped to push 16 cars off the road that were stuck in …

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports its St. Louis work zones for February 21-27.
The Missouri Department of Transportation is preparing for the possibility of an intense winter weather mix over the next 24 hours, but there are many work zones scheduled this week once the roads are clear. Since Thursday’s winter storm will include ice, it will significantly impact travel. Those impacts will last until long after precipitation stops. This storm will create rapidly changing road conditions. Motorists should minimize travel if possible. Those who must travel, be prepared to remain at your destination long-term. Be sure to allow plenty of time if traveling and give snow plows plenty of room to work. MoDOT has full crews (approximately 400 employees and 200 trucks) that are ready for the snow and ice mixture. Crews have been…
