Leara's District 95 covers Crestwood, Sunset Hills and Fenton in South St. Louis County. According to PoliticMo, Leara's legislation would make it a felony for lawmakers to merely file legislation that would at all restrict gun rights. Leara told PoliticMo that the bill was only to spark debate about gun rights, and believes it has no chance in the general assembly. “I have no illusions about the bill making it through the legislative process, but I want it to be clear that the Missouri House will stand in defense of the people’s …

Now you're making sense! Sad our society keeps voting for the same people and expecting things to change. If we don't read a contract, the consequences can be serious. Because they exempt themselves, there are no consequences since their jobs are for all practical purposes safe. They have no reason to change their ways.   more ›

Burns Defeats Montecillo in "Ugly" Primary Race for District 93

The 93rd District represents parts of Lemay and Affton; Bob Burns received 61 percent of the vote.

This story was updated at 12:30 on Wednesday with comments from Bob Burns.  When Joe Montecillo called Bob Burns to congratulate him on the Democratic nomination in Tuesday's primary, the conversation lasted less than 30 seconds.  Burns won by 404 ballots and had 61.45 percent of the vote and will face Republican Tony Leech in November, who ran unopposed in the primary.  "I just called Bob Burns and congratulated him on a win and wished him good luck, and he said 'Ok Joe, thanks,'" Montecillo said. "It's been a really ugly campaign." "The only things that were negative were perpetrated by him," Burns said. "I didn't want to give him any name recognition in the area, so didn't mention my opponent by name once during the race."  Burns signed…

Mr. Messmer's comments are as ignorant as they are offensive. I do not recall seeing him at any Lemay meetings (or Oakville, or Tesson Ferry meetings for that matter) in recent years. He has no idea what he's talking about regarding the attendance and atmosphere of our meetings, or the age of our members. The Lemay organization meetings are open to all Democrats. We meet every first Thursday at 7…   more ›

Republican Cloria Brown and Democrat Vicki Englund will vie for the 94th District, covering Mehlville and parts of Affton for the third time.

Mehlville's Rep. Cloria Brown defeated Tim Hotop in the Republican primary Tuesday night and will face Democrat Vicki Englund for the third time in November.  Brown was an incumbent who captured 2,174 or 75.46 percent of the votes. She celebrated with friends and family at an election party at Two Hearts Banquet Center on Lindbergh Boulevard. "I'm lucky that I'm blessed with a great work ethic, a lot of stamina and a very supportive husband," she said after the victory.  Hotop did not respond to requests for comments.   Looking ahead to the November election Brown's victory sets up a well-established November rematch with Englund, who won unopposed in the primary.  In 2008, Englund defeated Brown in an election to represent the 85th …
