Join the Missouri Department of Transportation, community leaders and other volunteers to help pick up litter on Missouri roads.
Join the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), community leaders and other volunteers for the department's annual "No More Trash! Bash" on April 6. MoDOT will supply participants with trash bags, safety vests, litter pickers and gloves and will guide volunteers along the routes while picking up litter. The goal of the event is to spread awareness of Missouri's litter problem and work toward a litter-free state. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports the St. Louis work zones through April 3.
During this holiday weekend, motorists need to be aware of two major work zones. All lanes and ramps of Interstate 64 between Hampton and Forest Park avenues will be closed from Friday night until early Monday morning. In addition, westbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge will be reduced to only one lane open late Friday night until early Saturday morning. The detour for westbound I-64 will be to get off the interstate at the Forest Park Avenue exit (exit 38A) and follow Forest Park Avenue to Kingshighway. After turning left onto Kingshighway, drivers will follow Kingshighway back to the interstate. MoDOT celebrated one century of operation in March. How much do you know about the transportation department?
The Missouri Department of Transportation announced it's celebrating its 100th year anniversary this month. MoDOT released the following details of its creation in a news release. One hundred years ago, just after President Woodrow Wilson was inaugurated and as women campaigned for the right to vote, the Missouri General Assembly created the State Highway Department. MoDOT is committing to repairing most potholes within 24 hours of them being reported. Motorists simply have to call in or email the pothole location.
The Missouri Department of Transportation kicked off its "enhanced pothole repair initiative" this week. MoDOT stated in a news release that the plan is the same as last year where crews will repair a pothole with asphalt within 24 hours of it being reported on a weekday. "MoDOT’s goal is to aggressively tackle potholes to keep highways smooth and safe for St. Louis motorists," the news release stated. Drivers should report potholes to by calling 1-888-ASK-MoDOT or online at MoDOT.org.
