Two new restaurants are coming to Telegraph Road--and they're both from familiar faces to the Mehlville and Lemay dining scene. Genesis Catering owner Matt Casalone is opening an Italian-influenced family restaurant near his banquet hall, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Casalone told the Post-Dispatch carry-out will be available for families on the go. Post-Dispatch is also reporting that the long-awaited Cafe Telegraph will finally open in the former Rec Room up the road in Lemay. The spot will offer pizza for those St. Louisans who aren't so in love with provel, according to the report. America's Incredible Pizza Co. recently invested $1.5 million to renovate the former Hammer's Food and Fun, 5254 S. Lindberg Blvd. The Crestwood-Sunset Hills, Affton, and South County Chambers of Commerce welcomed the rejuvenated pizza place and family entertainment center to Lindbergh Boulevard this week. It officially opens to the public on Dec. 20. Some customers may remember the space was once called America's Incredible Pizza Co. The previous franchise owner broke away from AIC and opened as Hammer’s Food and Fun earlier this year, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Wendy's is coming to Mehlville and started construction in early September at their new location on the 6900 block of Lindbergh Boulevard. The burger joint will be in the same lot as the Holiday Inn, Marshalls and Krispy Kreme. It'll open by the end of November, Wendy's spokesperson Kitty Munger said in an email to Patch. Several residents said they wanted a Wendy's in the area in July a Patch story. A Wendy's store was previously located on Lemay Ferry Road.

Approved by the county more than a year ago, the doughnut shop drew concerns from the community. Residents in a nearby subdivision shared concerns over traffic at a public hearing in June 2011. The space was a formerly a Jazzercise exercise facility, which received a “Notice to Terminate Tenancy,” with a one-month notice to relocate. I'm glad to see some type of improvemnet to this strip. This entire strip mall needs to be torn down or major renovation. It's an embarassment to the communtiy!!!! Both sides of Telegraph need help. The parking lot should be redesigned to let customer enter and exist from Pottle.   more ›

An old house might be converted into businesses at the space between Mehlville High School and St. Anthony’s Lemay Urgent Care. The 2-acre lot would hold two companies: Kyle’s Landscaping and ServPro of Oakville and Mehlville. ServePro restores homes and businesses from floods and fires. The two business owners—Kyle Lang and Kevin Thole—submitted a request to change the zoning of the land from a residential to a planned commercial district. At a public hearing on Monday, five people symbolically voted in favor of the business and zero voted against. The St. Louis County Planning Commission will vote to approve or deny the request at a meeting Sept. 10. Lang and Thole, who both live in the area, bought the land from an auction. A …

The Lemay Chamber of Commerce welcomed Call of Duty Home Health Care to the area July 20 in a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new office, 1001 Lemay Ferry Road. The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine has been ranked a top 10 cancer center nationally by U.S. News & World Report. The recognition is part of the overall ranking of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University, which are No. 6 on the news magazine’s 2012 “Best Hospitals” list released Tuesday. The top 10 listing comes only eight years after the National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Siteman as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, the highest federal designation for U.S. cancer centers.
