Point Elementary School's principal let students duct tape him to a wall if they brought pies for a school fundraiser.
Point Elementary School principal Dan Giesler found a unique way to motivate his students. Giesler made a deal with his students: anyone who brought a pie to the school's pie sale fundraiser could help duct tape him to the wall of the gym. Hundreds of students brought pies. Students kept Giesler to his word and stuck him with duct tape to the wall Nov. 20. Giesler was so wrapped up that his feet even hung off the floor! Don't miss the photos! The trial for Jim Walters, accused of lewd and indecent conduct, convened Tuesday.
After months of delays, the trial of Jim Walters, the former Point Elementary School principal who was issued a lewd and indecent conduct citation in March, finally convened earlier this week. Judge James Wahl, the judge originally assigned to Walters’ case, was still sick, so the case was transferred to Judge Joseph Murphy, who has not yet announced a verdict. At the trial, Walters’ attorney Neil Bruntrager presented surveillance video evidence he said contradicts the accusation of lewd and indecent behavior by a Forest Park park ranger. A motion-activated surveillance camera on the upper Muny parking lot was pointed at the location where park ranger Timothy McGarrity said Walters met and talked with a man in a car after Walters had …

Eighth-grader Christian Chellis replaced the landscaping outside his old elementary school for his Eagle Scout project.
As part of his quest to become an Eagle Scout, Oakville Middle School student Christian Chellis relandscaped the front of Point Elementary, where he’d been a student. “I wanted to improve it, so I did,” Christian said. “It took me a while to plan it. I came up with a landscape plan on how it should be.” Christian and 12 other scouts from Troop 661 removed the old landscaping from the front of the building and replaced it with new plants and mulch. They also put in a new path around the flagpole. Christian said he knew replacing the landscaping would help because the school couldn’t afford to do it the way he did.
