Drivers Hit MoDOT Trucks Fixing Potholes

MoDOT reports road crews are averaging a six-hour response time, but urges drivers to pay attention as road crews are still working.

The Missouri Department of Transportation said it's making progress with its aggressive focus on potholes after starting pothole patrol at the beginning of March. MoDOT has responded to more than 100 reported potholes since the program began March 2 and crews have patched reported potholes within six hours on average, MoDOT stated in a news release.  However, the department reported that drivers have hit three MoDOT trucks while crews were out repairing potholes this month. Crews will continue to be out working so motorists are urged to maintain the speed limit, stay alert and watch for road crews. MoDOT Reveals More on Plan to Attack Potholes

Beginning in March, the Missouri Department of Transportation is aggressively attacking potholes across the St. Louis area and commits to filling the holes with asphalt with 24 hours when they are reported to MoDOT on weekdays. MoDOT stated in a news release that the plan is part of an improved program to respond to and fix potholes throughout the St. Louis area district which includes St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson counties. "It's the right thing to do," said Tom Blair, St. Louis Asst. District Engineer with MoDOT. "The month of March is when we get out the heart of winter weather, so this is a major priority to our staff, to now get out there an get these potholes filled." MoDOT Attacks Potholes in 24 Hours - Where Are Yours?

The Missouri Department of Transportation is kicking off an "enhanced pothole repair initiative" in March. That announcement came in a press release where MoDOT stated road crews will repair potholes with asphalt within 24 hours of it being reported during weekdays.  "MoDOT’s goal is to aggressively tackle potholes to keep highways smooth and safe for St. Louis motorists," the release stated.  MoDOT said that the goal is to benefit both the department and drivers by tackling potholes early and getting them filled while they are still small.
