St. Louis County Police are investigating an armed robbery in South County near Suson Park on Sunday. The robbery resembles an incident near Oakville Elementary School last month. A man and his wife were parking their car in their garage in the 13000 block of Wynston Trace Court around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when two suspects approached them, one pulling out a gun, said the St. Louis County Police spokesman Randy Vaughn. After a physical struggle with the male victim, the suspects fled the area without taking anything of value. The male victim was slightly injured, including a laceration to his head and hand, police said. Anthony Akins and his brother Oundre Akins have been accused of killing two people at the South County Steak 'n Shake in 2008, KSDK-TV Reports. Oundre Akins was sentenced to life in prison for the crime in March.
The second suspect in the murders of two people at the South County Steak 'n Shake in 2008 is scheduled to plea to the charges on Thursday, KSDK-TV reports. Anthony Akins and his brother Oundre Akins have been accused of killing two employees at the restaurant on Nov. 10, 2008 during an early morning robbery. Oundre Akins, convicted March 4 of two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of first-degree robbery in the Steak ‘n Shake shootings, was sentenced Thursday to over 120 years in prison. Two Steak ‘n Shake employees, Tammy Cantrell and Mark Gerstner, were killed Nov. 10, 2008, in the early morning robbery. St. Louis County Judge Richard Bresnahan sentenced 23-year-old Akins to two life sentences, as well as four consecutive 30 year sentences for the robbery and armed criminal action counts, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Thursday. Several key witnesses for the prosecution testified Tuesday in the second day of a first-degree murder trial against Oundre Akins. But the most critical witness was Akins himself. During the trial, prosecutors played a videotaped confession in which Oundre Akins tells how he and his brother, Anthony Akins, robbed the South County Steak ‘n Shake at about 3:38 a.m. Nov. 10, 2008. Three others sprayed the two victims with pepper spray, beat and robbed them on Christmas Eve, St. Louis County Police said.
Three men broke into an Oakville home Christmas Eve morning, sprayed the occupants with pepper spray, beat the man with a baton and tied the couple up, police said. They then took the man’s wallet and the woman’s purse, which contained $14,000 in cash from the couple’s businesses. Two other men mostly waited outside during the incident, according to St. Louis County Police. Ronald M. Hargis, 38, of the 600 block of Granda Drive in Mehlville, was charged Tuesday with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary in connection with the incident. A South County man tried to rob another person by knife-point at a bus stop at the West Velma and South Broadway intersection Dec. 18, police said. St. Louis County Police said Robert M. Hixson, 26, pulled out a pocket knife and demanded cigarettes and cash from a person at the bus stop at about 2:40 p.m. Police said he lunged at the person with the knife while making his demands. The victim had no cigarettes and no money and couldn’t comply. Police said Hixson left and headed south on Broadway. Hixson, of the 200 block of Bayless Avenue in South County, was charged Dec. 19 with first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action. Hixson was being held in St. Louis County jail Thursday.
