The team announced Tuesday that the veteran pitcher is still dealing with effects of previous injury that sidelined him for most of 2012. Mercy doctors will likely be involved in evaluating what happens next.
Sad news out of the St. Louis Cardinals front office today — the Mercy partnership with the St. Louis Cardinals as the team's official medical provider will get a high-profile start. The team announced Tuesday that Chris Carpenter, sidelined for most of the 2012 with thoracic outlet syndrome, will likely not pitch in 2013 after having trouble with offseason workouts. In a news conference broadcast on local media outlets, Cardinals VP and General Manager John Mozeliak announced that Carpenter would "utlize the Mercy network" among others in finding a way forward, after the player notified the team Friday that he was unable to throw at a high velocity after otherwise having had "a normal offseason," according to Mozeliak. Mozeliak said there…

Everyone's got a story about the St. Louis Cardinals' legend, right? Musial died Saturday.
Stan "The Man" Musial, the St. Louis Cardinals legend who was widely considered "the greatest Cardinal," died on Saturday. That's the news that broke on Saturday. Today, we're interested in your stories about the pitcher-cum-outfielder who played for the Redbirds from 1941 to 1963. As a relatively newcomer to St. Louis (only here 11 years!) I can't say I have a lot of memories of Musial beyond meeting countless compatriots at the Musial statue at the last two versions of Busch Stadium. How about you? What do you remember about Musial? Your parents' memories? Yours?

The St. Louis Cardinal icon and baseball hall of fame outfielder passed away Saturday night.
Stan Musial, a giant in the St. Louis community and the baseball world for more than half a century, died Saturday at his home in Ladue. "Stan the Man passed peacefully at home at 5:45 pm tonight of natural causes. Life will never be the same without baseball's perfect knight," his grandson, Brian Musial Schwarze said via Twitter Saturday evening. Musial was 92 and had been in poor health in recent years. Musial, who entered baseball's Hall of Fame in 1969, played 22 years for the St. Louis Cardinals, amassing 3,630 hits and 24 All-Star Game appearances in a career full of superlatives. Said the Cardinals in posting word of Musial's death: Musial, father of three daughters and a son, was unpretentious, untroubled, friendly and folksy. The…

The Giants beat the Cardinals 9-0 in Game 7 to end the Redbirds' 2012 season.
There will be no World Series in St. Louis this season. There will be no parade down Market Street, no 12th world championship and no rematch of the 2006 Fall Classic. Monday night in San Francisco the Cardinals hopes of a repeat of 2011 were ended at the hands of the Giants. Just like in 1996, the Cardinals, with a new manager, had a 3-1 lead in the National League Championship series. And, just like in '96, the Cards failed to get win No. 4, losing in Game 7 in a blowout. The Cardinals were done in by a series of miscues and the inability to get a big basehit. But, credit the San Francisco, the Giants had to play perfect to come back and did just that. The loss in California closes the book on an interesting season for the Cardinals…

A guide to watching Game 7, Oct. 22, 2012, of the National League Championship Series.
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Kyle Lohse and San Francisco Giant Matt Cain meet again for a pitching duel for the final game of the National League Championship Series Monday night at 7 p.m. Central Time. With the series tied at 3 apiece, the Giants are seeking a happy finale at home and the Cards would gladly take a happy flight. The team moving forward scores home field advantage in the World Series pitted against the Detroit Tigers. Lohse and Cain already matched up during the NLCS last Wednesday for Game 3, leading to a Cardinals win at Busch. The weather dealt a nearly 3 1/2-hour rain delay before picking the game back up in the 7th. The broadcast airs on FOX2, featuring play-by-play with Joe Buck, analysis from Tim McCarver, along with…

Get the full schedule on the National League Championship Series and see the results from the first three games.
Tonight, St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright takes on the San Francisco Giants' Tim Lincecum when the National League Championship Series continues in Busch Stadium at 7:07 p.m. The broadcast airs on FOX2, featuring play-by-play with Joe Buck, analysis from Tim McCarver, along with field reporters Erin Andrews and Ken Rosenthal. Weather is expected to be in the mid-50s at game time, with a slight chance of showers—nothing like the downpour that caused a 3-and-a-half-hour delay in Wednesday's game in the seventh inning. The Cardinals took a one-game lead on Wednesday, leading 2-1 in the National League Championship Series. The series stays in St. Louis through Friday and returns to the west coast if neither team sweeps the other …
The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis work zones for October 18-24.
St. Louis Cardinals fans will have two lanes on eastbound Interstate 64 open for all scheduled National League Championship Games. The exit ramps from eastbound I-64 to 6th and 11th Street will both be open to allow Cardinals fans to get to the games. Cardinals fans traveling on I-70 should remember that the express lanes are closed into downtown while the gates await repairs. All fans should allow a little extra time to get to a game. MoDOT will also close two lanes on westbound I-70 between Cass and Madison next Monday thru Wednesday (Oct. 22-24) at 8 p.m. for construction on the Missouri I-70 interchange. The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning. The ramp from westbound I-70 to Madison will tentatively close at 8 p.m. …

Now that his baseball career is over, I wonder if Chris wants to go into modeling. One thing for sure, though, he certainly won't need money. As long as he avoids a divorce. The shyster lawyers would have a field day getting a king's ransom in alimony/child support for his "poor" wife.   more ›
