Plan Change Helps Lemay Resident Catch Acquaintance Burglarizing His Home, Police Say

St. Louis County Police said Connie Sue Dewrock thought the couple would be gone for the evening, but the man met her at the top of the stairs with a firearm.

A last-minute change of plans helped a Lemay resident catch an acquaintance who broke into his home, police said. St. Louis County Police said Connie Sue Dewrock, 41, knew residents in the 900 block of Dammert Avenue in the Lemay area. She knew they planned to go out of town for the evening on Christmas Eve, police said. But the man decided not to go at the last minute. Police said Dewrock broke glass in a basement door at about 5:45 p.m. Dec. 24, entered the home and went upstairs. The man confronted her, holding a gun. Dewrock, of the 700 block of Reed Avenue was charged Wednesday with first-degree burglary. Dewrock had been on probation after pleading guilty in June 2012 to theft and possession of a controlled substance. Her probation …

South County Police Officers Being Honored by Mental Health America

39 St. Louis-area officers will be honored during a ceremony on Wednesday.

Several police officers from around St. Louis County will be recognized Wednesday by the Mental Health America of Eastern Missouri (MHA-EM) during their 27th annual Police Recognition Luncheon, according to a release from Mental Health America. MHA-EM will honor 39 officers for the John J. McAtee Award, in recognition of their showing compassion, concern and understanding when working with individuals in psychiatric crisis, according to the release.  Seven officers from South County will be honored, from MHA-EM:

Officers Found Mehlville Man Driving Stolen Car, Police Say

St. Louis County Police said Taylor Michael Sanborn was driving a stolen 1999 Chrysler Cirrus and had marijuana in his pocket.

A Mehlville man faces charges that he stole a car in South County and possessed marijuana. Taylor Michael Sanborn, 20, of the 4700 block of Tarlton Drive in Mehlville, was charged May 6 with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana. St. Louis County Police said Sanborn was driving a 1999 Chrysler Cirrus on Dec. 9 at Mattis Road and Tarlton Drive. The car had been reported stolen. Police said Sanborn had marijuana in his pocket when he was arrested. Bond has been set at $11,000 for Sanborn. Man Almost Crashed Into Police Car While Fleeing, Police Say

St. Louis County Police said when they caught Alexander Krupp, he had stolen items in his trunk.

A High Ridge man faces criminal charges after St. Louis County Police said they found he had property stolen from cars in Oakville. Alexander M. Krupp, 21, of the 1500 block of Cleo Court, was charged May 6 with felony stealing and resisting arrest. St. Louis County Police said officers responding to a suspicious person report spotted Krupp in his car at 2:52 a.m. Oct. 12. England Town Road and Pierwood Drive. County Police Lieutenant Fired Following Racial Profiling Investigation

The St. Louis County police lieutenant allegedly asked officers to focus arrests on blacks near South County retail businesses, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

A St. Louis County police lieutenant has been fired following a six-month internal investigation into racial profiling near a South County shopping center and Walmart, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Last year the department received an anonymous letter from one of its officers alleging that Lt. Patrick Hayes was ordering officers under his command in the South County Precinct to target blacks for arrest at South County Center and Walmart, according to the daily newspaper. Officers did not follow his command, though police told the Post-Dispatch that an investigation revealed Hayes did use "inappropriate racial references." Oakville Teen Reported Missing on Saturday Is OK

St. Louis County police issued a missing and endangered person advisory for Timothy Corcoran on Saturday. He has since returned home unharmed.

An Oakville teen reported missing on Saturday has returned home, St. Louis County police say.  The St Louis County Police Department issued a missing and endangered person advisory on 16-year-old Timothy Corcoran Saturday afternoon.  Randy Vaughn, a St. Louis County police spokesman, told Patch the teen returned home safely Monday afternoon.  

Mehlville Man Sexually Assaulted 9-Year-Old Girl, Police Say

Anthony David Nelson was charged with statutory sodomy and child molestation after St. Louis County Police said he sexually assaulted a young girl.

A Mehlville man is accused of sexual assault after police said he had deviate sexual intercourse with a young girl. Anthony David Nelson, 42, of Mehlville, was charged Friday with charges including first-degree statutory sodomy, incest and first-degree child molestation. St. Louis County Police said between Dec. 17, 2011 and April 8, 2013, Nelson had deviate sexual intercourse with the girl by touching her vagina over her underwear and by rubbing her with his exposed penis. Police said he was related to the girl, who was between 9 and 10 years old during the assaults. Nelson is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $100,000, cash only. Identity of Oakville Man Shot, Killed by Police Released

Authorities say Andrew P. Bush threatened two St. Louis County police officers with an assault rifle after they knocked on his door early Saturday in reference to a car theft.

St. Louis County police have released the name of man shot and killed by police early Saturday morning in Oakville. Andrew P. Bush, 29, of the 4400 block of El Paulo Ct., died at the scene, according to a news release from the St. Louis County Police Department. Bush threatened two officers with an assault rifle after they knocked on his door in reference to a car theft.  Here is how the event unfolded: Shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a call at KT's Saloon in the 4500 block of Telegraph Rd. regarding a vehicle that had just been stolen from the parking lot, police say.   A woman reported that the man (Bush) had approached her and her boyfriend in the parking lot. Oakville Man May Face Additional Charges in Death of Desoto Man

St. Louis County prosecutors say they may bring additional charges against Patrick Rayburn before a grand jury on June 12.

An Oakville man may face jail time after he hit and stomped on the head of a Jefferson County man who later died from injuries relating to the attack. St. Louis County prosecutors on Friday charged Patrick Rayburn, 44, of the 300 block of Susan Road in Oakville, with first-degree assault resulting in a serious injury. Dustan Marler, 34, of DeSoto, was attacked in August 2012 and later died on Oct. 25, 2012 after his brain hemorrhaged from a hematoma suffered in the attack. Charges may be added when the case is presented to a St. Louis County grand jury on June 12, an official from the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said. The official could not say what additional charges will be brought to the grand jury. Man Threatened to Kidnap and Kill Oakville Family, Police Say

William J. Brown was charged with harassment after St. Louis County Police heard him threaten a woman in Oakville.

A Crystal City man faces charges for threatening to kidnap and kill an Oakville family April 27 at the family’s home. William J. Brown, of the 100 block of County Road in Crystal City, was charged Sunday in St. Louis County Circuit Court with harassment. St. Louis County Police said a woman called another woman and left a voice message, saying Brown was acting crazy at her home in the 6900 block of Shady Lawn Drive. In the background on the message, Brown can be heard saying, "before I kidnap and kill you all," according to a court document. Brown is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center.
