Mehlville High School and Oakville High School are wrapping up their fall plays this week with final performances Thursday and Friday. Mehlville HS Mehlville students are performing The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, where a group of theater hopefuls are invited to the Von Grossenknueten estate to audition for a new Broadway show, but only after the group has been snowed in do they realize—They were all in the show where the Broadway Slasher killed members of the company! Will the Broadway Slasher continue the killing spree? The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 will be performed at 7:00 pm on November 15, and 16th in the Mehlville Drama Center. Bishop DuBourg High school puts on a wonderful play, full of emotions, according to this student review by The Cappies, the student thespian and critical review program in the region.
By Tiffany Vonderahe of Northwest School District The terrible misfortunes that surround everyone, including earthquakes, hurricanes and tornados, are addressed in this play as “Acts of God.” The play starts with a window, a simple window with Maria, Gibbons, explaining the window. It ends with the lights dimming, and the sirens starting. Bishop DuBourg High school puts on a wonderful play, full of emotions. The world premiere of “Acts of God” was in 2006 at the Evansville Civic Center in Evansville, Indiana. It was based off of actual events. Bishop DuBourg, however, added the Joplin tornado to the story, and it fit right in. They also changed the character “Fernando” from a girl to a boy. These changes are perfectly acceptable. …

Longtime Oakville resident Joe Hanrahan produces and stars in the St. Louis Premiere of the cutting comedy, "Mistakes Were Made."
When the character of Felix Artifax sets out to produce an extravaganza that requires 50 actors, a guillotine, a star drop and a horse, he has his work cut out for him. When Joe Hanrahan steps into the role of Artifax, the audience is in for a wild and hilarious evening of live theatre. “He's on the phone almost the entire show talking; trying to put it together with movie stars, agents, designers and trying to raise money from terrorists in the Middle East,” Hanrahan said. “It's the telephone equivalent of a slamming door comedy.” Oakville resident Hanrahan—Artistic Director of The Midnight Company—will produce and star in the St. Louis premiere of “Mistakes Were Made,” the brisk comedy by Craig Wright, Aug. 18 through Sept. 3, at The …

Dr. Seuss will be coming to life on the stage when the Mehlville High School Theatre Arts Department presents “Seussical Junior,” a musical based on the works of the revered children’s author.
Dr. Seuss will be coming to life on the stage this weekend when the Mehlville High School Theatre Arts Department presents Seussical Junior, a musical based on the works of the revered children’s author. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 24-26. On Feb. 26 there also will be a matinee show at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance, $6 at the door and $7 for reserved seating.
