St. Louis County Police said no one was injured in the Thursday evening blast.
A Mehlville man faces charges for causing an explosion outside the Avon Beauty Supply Store just before 8 p.m. Thursday in the 11800 block of Tesson Ferry Road. The explosion shook neighboring buildings and shattered a glass pane window and damaged window framing at the Avon Store. There are no known injuries from the blast. Joseph Wambach, 49, of the 4400 block of Mattis Road in Mehlville, was charged Friday with knowingly exploding or burning. Wambach was captured on surveillance video, according to court documents. He placed the unknown explosive object on the ground outside the Avon store and walked into a neighboring bar, according to a St. Louis County Police news release. Christopher Marks, the 12-year-old from Affton, is still missing from the Meramec River.
Missing Christopher Marks was last seen swinging from a tire above the Meramec River by a family member with him Sunday night at the Pacific Palisades Conservation Area, confirmed St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch at the scene Tuesday morning. UPDATE: Just kidding. They are now postponed. Other cities may be canceling their Fourth of July fireworks celebrations due to the hot, dry weather, but so far, the annual JB Blast celebration is still on. "There are no plans to cancel JB Blast," said St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger. "It's going to be really dry, but I think we are going to be OK." Stenger will be singing the national anthem at the event, which draws as many as 20,000 people each year. Stenger addressed residents' cancellation fears at an Affton Chamber of Commerce event today, adding that the annual fireworks show draws people from around the St. Louis area. A poker-wielding youth may have stopped the break-in and attempt to take the child.
An Oakville woman and an Affton man who attempted to take the woman's child from a family member’s home in St. Charles Friday were charged Saturday as an accessory to a burglary. A third suspect was being treated for injuries at Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. A juvenile attacked one intruder with a fireplace poker and may have stopped the attempt, according to a St. Charles Police report. Jennifer Temm, 34, of the 2800 block of Owendale Court in Oakville, and Matthew Wakeman, 26, of Affton, were charged Saturday with accessory to burglary. Lt.
