A confidential tip helped St. Charles Police nab two men now being investigated in jewelry thefts in multiple states. Police said officers found a cache of more than $200,000 in stolen jewelry. Police found the stolen jewelry when they searched the men and their rental car Thursday. Some of the recovered jewelry was reported stolen from Samuels Jewelers in South County Center. Quinton Garrus, 52, of Baltimore, was charged Friday with receiving stolen property. A second man who was arrested has not yet been charged in St. Charles County. Garrus had warrants for felony stealing conspiracy and failure to appear in Maryland. The items had been stolen in recent burglaries, St. Louis County Police reported.
Police discovered two men in a vacant house last month with several items stolen in recent burglaries. Daniel Solomon, 34, of the 100 block of East Loretta Avenue in the Lemay area, and Brian Neaveill, 35, of the 4400 block of Swan Avenue in the city of St. Louis, each were charged with receiving stolen property after they were found on Jan. 16. St. Louis County Police said the two were found inside a home in the 900 block of Wachtel Avenue in the Lemay area with a stolen laptop computer, MP3 player, retirement pin, a silver watch, ball caps and sunglasses. A Mehlville man faces a criminal charge for using a credit card soon after it was stolen. Patrick Vuichard, 31, of the 3100 block of Alpen Rose Court in Mehlville, was charged Wednesday with receiving stolen property. St. Louis County Police said Vuichard is on surveillance video using the stolen credit card in the city of St. Louis. The card had been stolen at about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19 in South County near Interstate 55 and Meramec Bottom Road, just north of Arnold. Vuichard used the card about 30 minutes later, police said.
