On the article What Do You Remember About Stan 'The Man' Musial?
Ed Wright

ReplySo many memories...meeting him on my birthday as a kid at his restaurant and getting an autographed picture; going to his last game in September 1963; meeting him again 5 years ago at the Busch Stadium "garage sale" when my oldest son and I got our photo taken with him and an autographed baseball. Maybe my best memory is from 2010 when my wife and I ran into him at a restaurant in Frontenac Plaza. I chatted with him for just a moment and thanked him for all he had done. Earlier that day, Mark McGwire had held his "confessional news conference". I wrote a letter to the Post-Dispatch comparing the two Cardinals and expressing appreciation for Stan. A week later I received in the mail an autographed drawing of Stan and thanks for my comment. He was, indeed, "the Man".

One correction. My last name is Wright, not Smith...but as I said, teachers and staff are ready to work on behalf of this proposition for the good of the community and kids in Brentwood.

ReplyParking on the lot for Target or Petsmart is almost impossible. My wife won't even try to go there on a Saturday anymore. Where are the employees parking?

ReplyWhat a wonderful lady and shining spirit in Brentwood. Our family has had the pleasure of knowing the Smith family for many years and we are better for it. Her dignity and enthusiasm shone through her children and grandchildren. Thanks, Peggy (and family), for all you've done for Brentwood and Brentwood High School.

On the article Public Prayer: Should Missouri Voters OK This Measure?
Ed Wright
10:45 am on Sunday, May 27, 2012
Reply"As long as there are tests, there will be prayers in public school." Each of us has the right to pray or not to pray by ourselves. When students or staff or mayors or policemen or any official in a public place begin doing prayers that are perceived as representing the school/city/agency's beliefs, then there is a danger of violation of the 1st amendment establishment clause. I respect anyone's right to pray on their own but if this amendment is passed, there will be too many attempts to celebrate/recognize one creed or denomination over another. This amendment is not needed and potentially dangerous. We are a different nation now from many years ago...much more diverse and hopefully more tolerant.

ReplyThanks to Ryan Martin for conducting this interview and asking some important questions. And thanks to Mayor Kelly for agreeing to sit down and start to answer some of these questions. I know that he is limited as to public discussion of personnel issues but...this is a start. Keep it going.
