Mehlville to Accept 150 Transfer Students

Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost says the decision will protect class size.

The Mehlville School District has decided it can accepted around 150 transfer students from Riverview Gardens School district without compromising class size.

KSDK reports the school district is down about 1,000 students from 10 years and questioned why it wouldn't accept more students.

Knost tweeted Tuesday night, "MSD (is) committed to accommodating (without) compromising (educational) excellence with ineffective class sizes. Media leaves this out."

When asked why the district wouldn't just add additional staff to accommodate requests, similar to what Clayton School District is doing, Knost said the district would if it was guaranteed to receive the tuition.
