The New York Times Highlights School Transfers Situation

The news publication with worldwide clout credits class, racism and stereotypes as a reason the situation is so complicated.

In an article entitled, In Missouri, Race Complicates a Transfer to Better Schools, The New York Times takes a look as families in the unaccredited school districts of Normandy and Riverview Gardens.
Journalist Ohn Eligon and photojournalist Dan Gill have visited the St. Louis area and provided an outside view of the situation.

The article paints a picture of kids simply wanting to go to school and parents wanting to provide a better education for their children. There is also the picture of a parent from one of the schools transfer student will be attending open to helping the students be successful but wanting a solution for the home schools.

The article also shows the contrast in home life for students living in the unaccredited district versus those living in the districts transfer district.

It brings up a few solid points. One is the question of unaccredited districts trying to survive while paying out so much money. It also points to residents in the unaccredited areas wanting a better solution and feeling the state is giving up on their schools.
