Lawncare Fire Likely Accidental

Bomb and arson investigators did a walk-through Thursday after the fire was stopped.

Thursday's was accidental.

St. Louis County Police Detective David Sandbach said Thursday night after he completed his walk-around of the scene, that the damage was so great his access was limited, but initially that was his conclusion.

That came from St. Louis County Police Lt. Karl Bulla, who was on the scene Thursday, and spoke to Patch on Friday. He said the insurance adjuster still needs to get in there and pull things apart, but "everything is pointing toward it being accidental."

Sandbach was the lead investigator on the St. Louis County Police bomb and arson squad that investigated the scene.

The fire, in the 600 block of Kingston Drive, started around 1:00 p.m. Mehlville, Affton and St. Louis fire departments responded.

Mike Spears, owner of MS Lawncare, did not answer calls to the business number today.

He said Thursday that he was planning on rebuilding, and continuing the business.

(Editor's note: The headline was changed from "Ruled Accidental" to "Likely Accidental" to reflect recent information that the insurance adjuster had not given the final ruling.)
