HUD Senior Housing Construction 'Properly Zoned', Won't Stop

County Executive Charlie Dooley said it would take an individual filing an injunction to stop the project.

Construction continues on the three-story HUD senior housing complex next to the Goddard School, on Telegraph Road in Oakville.

The St. Louis County Council voted on June 11 to send the rezoning back to the planning commission, which could reverse its earlier decision to allow the building. That meeting will take place on July 15.

Residents have said the notification process for the meeting that allowed the building in the first place was flawed, and they weren’t given a chance to voice their opinion.

A vice president of National Church Residences, the company building the complex, said construction is not stopping, in spite of the council’s June 11 vote. She spoke with KSDK.

"Right now we are proceeding because the property has been properly zoned and we do have contracts and we acted in good faith," said Karen Twinem, vice president of communications and public relations with National Church Residences.”
